Louise Hay teaches that we have the power to heal. In her book, You Can Heal Your Life, Louise writes healing words and positive affirmations to help improve lives. She lives in San Diego, has her own publishing house and her book is a good recommendation for inspirational, motivational reading.
You Can Heal Your Life teaches us to focus on the positive. The belief is that we use negative language and have negative thoughts, which create negative responses in our bodies such as pain and dis-ease. The concept is that working on our inner thoughts may help heal our dis-ease. Every negative thought may produce another layer of dis-ease, pain and even cancer.
Louise provides positive affirmations for aches, pains and other ailments. One affirmation that is very easy to remember is “I am happy, healthy, whole and complete.” Some exercises in the book focus on resentment, criticism, and guilt as these are the most damaging patterns of self-abuse and the most common thought for everyone is 'I am not good enough.'
This book is a good guide to reframe negative thoughts and feelings and to process the results in therapy. Some of the suggested work includes forgiveness (especially the person who hurt you the most), releasing resentment, anger, guilt and other negative thoughts or emotions that may damage your body and mind.
