- Self-Pay: You pay the fee per session. The benefit of self-pay is that a third-party payor is not involved with your personal therapy. Third-party payors may dictate how long and for what you are authorized treatment.
- CalVCB: California Victim Compensation Board offers benefits as a result of injury due to violent crimes. The program may reimburse for therapy as a result of the crime.
- HSA/FSA: Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards are also an accepted form of payment.
- Superbill: If you have insurance other than the insurance where your therapist is a provider, a "superbill" is provided to you after payment of services. The superbill shows the fees you have paid and you send the superbill to your insurance provider and they may reimburse you directly.
Notice of Good Faith Estimate
Notice of Good Faith Estimate of January 1, 2022: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. Save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
